Drug conviction filed with no sentence or jail time

September 22, 2017, Dorchester District Court case no. 1607CR002600 charging possession with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine. Police observed client conduct exchange with "buyer." Upon interrogation, "buyer" confirms he purchased cocaine from client. Police arrest client, finding 3 bags of cocaine and cash. Client retains our office after prior retained counsel does "nothing" for over one year. We file a motion to suppress, the merits of which lead the government to agree to "guilty file" the case. This disposition, which closes the case with no punishment, penalty or restraint on liberty, clears the way for client to obtain his United States citizenship.
