Relentless criminal defense.
While many lawyers hold themselves out as a "Jack of all trades," I focus only on one trade: criminal defense. I believe that the solemn duty of fighting for a person's freedom demands that singular focus. In the same way that a person in need of a root canal should turn to a specialist and not a general practitioner, a person fighting for their freedom needs a lawyer who has dedicated his life to criminal law. As they say, a Jack of all trades is a master of none.
Before founding my law firm in 2006, I served for over 8 years as a prosecutor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I handled every type of case imaginable: from drunk driving to murder; drug possession to aggravated rape; shoplifting to armed robbery. I supervised
and trained fellow prosecutors and police. I received federal recognition for my efforts in co-founding a task force that aided in dismantling several violent street gangs that infested the greater Lawrence area in the early 2000's.
Though those were financially lean years, My experience as an Assistant District Attorney translates into a potent advantage for my clients. That is, by learning how the government puts together a case, I learned how to take the government's case apart. My unique insight into the government's thinking and tactics helps me identify and exploit the weaknesses in the case against you.
Unique cases, unique defenses.
Most lawyers follow the path of least resistance. They try to shoehorn their cases into the same old tired defense tactics and generic recipes -- essentially one-size-fits-all lawyering.
But I don't see it that way. Every client is unique. Consequently, I believe I owe it to my clients to treat them as unique individuals. With their own story to tell. And while I naturally draw on my years of experience, I refuse to rely on any generic formula to fit any given case. I refuse to take the path of least resistance. Instead, I immerse myself in the unique circumstances of each client's story. I develop an individualized defense tailored to each unique case. By looking at each case with an open mind, I am able to pursue bold, aggressive defenses, and deliver uniquely outstanding results to my clients.

In 2020 and 2021, I was rated "AV-Preeminent" on Martindale Hubbell, the most trusted peer review authority in the legal community. This is the highest rating available, and an honor reserved for the top 10% of attorneys in the country who have distinguished themselves for their high ethical standing. In 2021, I was featured on "Super Lawyers," as having "attained a high degree of peer recognition and personal achievement" as a criminal defense lawyer. That same year, I was recognized as a top 100 criminal defense attorney by the venerable National Trial Lawyers.
I am on the Criminal Justice Council of the Massachusetts Bar Association and board of directors for the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where I serve as co-chair of the legislative committee.
